Our students have had a busy summer, achieving some incredible sporting results that showcase the exceptional talent we have here at WBS. We’ve highlighted some of their remarkable accomplishments below.
Rudy competed in both nipper and youth surf lifesaving events throughout the 2024 season, securing 49 medals—33 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze. At the national level, he won 14 golds, 6 silvers, and 3 bronzes in individual and team events. His standout achievement this season was becoming the U13 National Champion in the individual board race. Well done, Rudy!
Over the holidays, Matilda trained with Olympic coaches at two summer camps and competed in two national tournaments. Most impressively, Matilda won Bronze in the Girls Under-12 Sabre at the Truro event, part of the Leon Paul Junior Series, and is now ranked 11th in the UK for her age group.
Ruby competed at the English Schools National Championships at the Alexander last weekend representing Devon. We are proud to share that she ranked 10th among the top 18 throwers in the country.
Ella has been selected to represent Great Britain in Ocean Kayak racing this autumn. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement – we can’t wait to hear how you get on!
Well done to Rodrigo on winning the Regional Grade 3 Tournament in Penzance. Great achievement!
Well done to Luke and Isaac, Year 13 and Emily, Year 11, for being selected from the Exeter Hockey Talent Academy to compete in the prestigious Talent Cup. This event marked the culmination of their hard work throughout the 2023/24 season, with 24 academies battling it out over four days. The Exeter girls’ team performed exceptionally, winning their pool and securing 4th place overall. Luke captained the boys’ team, which narrowly missed winning their pool by just one point but went on to dominate in their playoff, finishing 7th overall.
Congratulations to Autumn for her fantastic results at the GB National Surf Life Saving Championships in Poole. Competing over two days, she made it to several finals and won two silver medals: one in the sea swim and another in the Golden Nipper (swim, board, and run).
Congratulations to Charlotte who has been selected for the prestigious Swim England South West Regional Development Programme. Only the top 24 girls in her age group across the South West are chosen for this programme.
Congratulations to Lilly on an impressive summer! She reached six Grade 3 finals and claimed the titles in both the Devon U14 singles and doubles. She also finished as the runner-up in the U16 girls’ singles.
