Outreach Programmes

Reaching out to our local community and further afield, haring opportunities, knowledge and dreams!

Inspiring a Wider Audience

We offer an extensive outreach programme which involves engaging with local state schools in the area to offer their students the same opportunities as those at West Buckland School.  This takes many forms from Sports Festivals to Aspiring Futures days, when we invite the young community of local students to explore their creativity, talents and curiosity.

Aspiring Futures

Our Aspiring Futures programme in music and art involves working with Year 7 to 9 students from state schools around the North Devon area, all joining forces to enjoy a days of creativity and discovery under the guidance of our experienced staff.

Collaboration and exploration are important elements and the students are encouraged to think about their futures, articulate their dreams and break down the barriers.

Our Kenya Partnership

Sharing projects, finding similarities, appreciating differences

Our partnership with Agoro Oyombe school, near the shores of Lake Victoria, in Kenya, was launched in 2005 with the purpose of allowing students from both schools to take part in joint curriculum projects in a number of subjects including geography, music and sport.

July 2013 saw the first West Buckland students visiting the school in Kenya, with eight Kenyan students coming to West Buckland School in return.  Since then WBS students have visited twice, with another trip is planned for 2021.  The students have made friends and worked on shared projects in subjects such as geography, music, outdoor learning and English.
