West Buckland School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) proudly welcomes Flying Officer RAFAC Liz Cwilewicz as the new Contingent Commander, as she expands her dedication to the unit by taking on the role of RAF Section Commander and continuing as the current Staff School Instructor. Liz’s visionary leadership has already yielded impressive results, with 20 cadets successfully passing their GP Rifle weapons handling tests (WHTs) and 18 cadets enlisted for training in preparation for the Army Cadet Summer Central Training Camp in Yoxter—the pinnacle camp of the year that we’ve missed for the past three years. Under Liz’s guidance, the contingent, comprising 80 members, has embraced new responsibilities and roles through enhanced leadership training and an improved cadet structure.
With two additional Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) joining this summer term, these positive developments underscore the Contingent’s robust readiness for the future. Liz’s recent achievements include passing her Mountain Leader (Summer) Assessment this April (even with frost on her tent!), which will enrich cadet and school expedition opportunities. Furthermore, she completed her Short-Range Course in February, aimed at fostering discipline and instilling confidence in young individuals through the application of marksmanship principles.
We are so excited to have Liz on our team and we can’t wait to follow the journey ahead for CCF at West Buckland School.
