Climbing success for WBS

It was a great weekend for our pupils in the South West inter-school climbing competition organised by Rock and Rapid in North Molton.

Over 22 WBS pupils took part, spanning the age ranges from Year 3 through to Year 12.

In the senior school, 16 pupils took first place, making WBS the winning school overall. Sam Johnson and Zac Johnson had a climb off to win first and second place in the Year 7-9 category. Megan Brooks achieved 2nd place for girls Year 7-9 and Henry McCarthy came third in Year 10-13 boys.

West Buckland school has a strong tradition of winning indoor climbing competitions. It was great to see so many young climbers to have the confidence to give it a go. Rock and Rapid’s new bouldering room makes for a great venue to development climbing and movement skills.

The school climbs on a Monday 8-10pm and Tuesday 4-6pm. Climbing is also an option at GCSE PE. Please see Mr Hathway if you would like more details in climbing and performance coaching sessions
