Finance Manager

Overview

West Buckland School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day financial operation of this School. This is a significant role, managing two staff and co-ordinating and controlling the accounting function in support of some 200 teaching and support staff.
Responsibilities include the management and appraisal of staff, responsibility for the purchase and nominal ledger, delivery of payroll and cash management, management and statutory accounting, budgetary control and preparation for annual audit. The role includes developing strategic modelling for planning options and engaging with the Senior Management Team to support the delivery of changes and improvement initiatives. Commercial awareness is also helpful as the school is expanding its business enterprise opportunities. The role reports to the Bursar and involves interaction with senior management, staff, parents and suppliers. The successful applicant will be a team player with qualifications appropriate to the role, professionally competent and with a positive approach to challenge, ideally with experience of school accounting.
