We welcome students who just want to come for one or two terms to improve their English in a traditional boarding school within a friendly, safe environment.
For some students, a short term stay is the perfect option. For Germans studying Abitur, a short stay is often an ideal choice, fitting in well with the required study of Abitur. And for many International students, who want to continue to sit their home country exams at the end of study years, taking a one or two term option within a UK boarding school can be a great way to improve your English language skills and experience the English education system combined with a diverse cultural mix of students from around the world.
We offer short term stays of 1 or 2 terms, or a full year. During this time, students will engage in the different lessons of the UK curriculum, whilst also having additional EAL lessons if required. In just one term you will form strong friendships, and enjoy all the fun and challenge of any student here at West Buckland School. You will stay in one of our comfortable boarding houses, where you will receive a warm welcome from staff and students alike. At weekends, there is a varied program of boarding activities, and boarders also enjoy the use of the sports facilities and library during the evenings, when the day students have gone home.
Students aged 11 to 16 will stay in our comfortable and friendly boys’ and girls’ boarding houses, Boyer and Bamfylde, in the care of our team of dedicated houseparents. They will be in bedrooms for either 2 or 4 people, and we guarantee they will NOT share a room with a student of the same nationality or mother tongue.
Students aged 16 and above will stay in Parker’s, our outstanding Sixth Form boarding house, with its 70 en-suite bedrooms, kitchens and spacious social spaces.

Include in your email a handwritten personal statement of no more than two A4 pages and a recent school report. Our admissions team will come back to you to arrange an online interview with a member of the Academic staff.
We also offer Immersion Camps that last for one or two weeks. You can find more information about these below:
