Junior Sports Awards 2026 Celebrates a Fantastic Year of Achievement

Our recent Junior Sports Awards Evening was a wonderful celebration of sporting success, commitment and teamwork across Years 7–10.

The Karslake Hall looked fantastic, beautifully decorated with the help of North Devon Party Celebrations, while students rose to the occasion, dressing smartly for an evening of celebration. Alongside the awards, there was plenty of fun to enjoy, including a raffle packed with great prizes and games such as the ever-popular Guess the Teacher challenge. Guests were also treated to delicious food from Holroyd Howe, with a crowd-pleasing build-your-own burger menu.

The evening provided an opportunity to recognise and thank every student for their contribution to sport throughout the year. Awards for Player of the Season and Coach’s Player were presented across every sport and year group, acknowledging the dedication, effort and achievements of our young athletes.

Special congratulations go to the winners of the evening’s five major awards:

Team of the Year – U14 Girls Netball
Individual Sport Award – Rudy R
Spirit of West Buckland Award – Jolly B
Contribution Cup (JWH) – Ethan P
Sports Person of the Year – Jemima B

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Friend for capturing the evening so beautifully through her photography (see Gallery below), to our Grounds Team for maintaining our pitches and facilities to such a high standard throughout the year and to our DT department for the fantastic engraved wooden medals. Finally, thank you to our dedicated Sports Team, whose hard work, enthusiasm and commitment have helped students achieve some fantastic results this season.

Congratulations to all our award winners and participants. It was a fitting way to celebrate another successful year of sport at West Buckland School, and we are already looking forward to what next year will bring!
