Over the half-term break, a group of our students travelled to Nepal for a trip that combined cultural discovery, challenging adventures and unforgettable landscapes. The experience provided valuable lessons and created lasting memories.
The journey began in Kathmandu, where the group explored landmarks such as the Boudhanath Stupa and visited a monastery to learn about Mandala art and receive blessings from monks. Walking through the vibrant streets, they enjoyed traditional Nepali meals and celebrated Rosa’s birthday, marking a great start to the trip.
In Pokhara, the students trekked through mountain villages, forests and stone pathways surrounded by stunning views of the Annapurna range. A highlight was an early morning sunrise revealing snow-capped peaks, a moment that left a deep impression. The students also stayed with a local family in Hemjakot, where they experienced warm hospitality and unique local traditions.
The group explored Chitwan National Park in the lowlands, where they visited Tharu villages, took a jeep safari to see wildlife, and watched an incredible sunset over the river with the Himalayas in the background. These moments captured the diverse beauty of Nepal.
The students displayed resilience throughout the trip, adapting to long journeys and challenging roads with a positive attitude. Bimal, their guide, played a key role in the experience, sharing his knowledge and inspiring the group with his optimism—a quality summed up in the phrase “Be more Bimal.”
The trip left the students with a deeper understanding of Nepali culture, a stronger sense of camaraderie, and a greater appreciation for the world around them. As one student noted, “Nepal exceeded all our expectations. If you ever get the chance to visit, take it—you won’t regret it.”
Thank you to Mrs Watteau, Mr Brown and Mr Priest for their organisation and support, which made this trip possible and ensured it ran smoothly.
