Chris Allin

History teacher. Head of PHSE

I have had the pleasure of teaching at West Buckland School for over twenty years, arriving as a fresh-faced 27year-old in 2001. History is my main subject but, as a Welshman, I have obviously been involved in rugby coaching throughout my time here. I have also taken a keen interest in the pastoral care of students, holding the posts of Head of Year 7 many years ago, followed by Courtenay Housemaster for ten years until 2021.

I love the warm atmosphere at West Buckland and how friendly and supportive fellow staff are, as well as students. For ten years I was also Head of History and the highlight was organising a number of overseas trips to places such as Berlin, Moscow and Gallipoli.

It has never ceased to amaze me what great company are our students on such trips and how, on such occasions, members of the public, almost without fail, feel the need to come up to me and say how impressed they are with the manners and conduct of our children. It really is a very special place to work.
