Having been at West Buckland since Year 5, I am grateful for the opportunities that have shaped me into the person I am today. The school has helped me gain the confidence to participate in Ten Tors, the Exmoor Run, DofE and CCF, as well as enabling me to take part in the Les Misérables performance, choir and various sports activities, all of which have developed my social skills and teamwork. The variety of extracurricular activities and sports offers serve an amazing opportunity to discover what you enjoy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Academically, the school is very supportive, and teachers are always happy to help with anything, even if it is outside of lessons. The Personalised Learning Development (PLD) Hub is a very welcoming place to get help and subject teachers are also available to assist. I started boarding in Year 11 to help revise for my GCSEs, as it gives me more time and allows me to use WBS facilities such as the swimming pool, gym, and school fields more often. The environment during and outside of school hours is friendly and active, encouraging people to be comfortable being themselves and enabling them to be their best.
