Since joining West Buckland in Year 7 I have really enjoyed my time and in particular the sporting opportunities available, as well as the drama productions and music. Performing Guys and Dolls, in the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple, and singing in the chapel choir, which I had never done before, have been real highlights.

I have loved getting involved and challenging myself in all the sporting opportunities. I had never played rugby or hockey before joining but, thanks to the immense effort of the coaching staff, I now play first team rugby, hockey, tennis and cross-country, as they encouraged me to perform at my best.

Saturday sport fixtures are the highlight of my week and I love the team spirit. This also helps socially, making friends for life and creating unforgettable memories.

Although my extra-curricular activities do require a large commitment, I do get a great deal of support from the teachers and pupils around me with classwork and homework, which helps me balance my time and make sure I can succeed in my academics too.

I find the careers lessons really useful as they allow me to set goals for the future and to have a plan. The fantastic support I get and the information teachers give me gives me confidence for success in the future.
