West Buckland Prep School is part a stunning 90-acre campus, surrounded by farmland, national parks and stunning coastlines. It is an idyllic environment, free from traffic, noise or pollution and with plenty of space and fresh air.
The Prep School benefits from some of the best facilities in the country. Have a look at the recently built Michael Morpurgo Library, the superb 150 Art and Design building, with its bespoke Prep Art Studio, and the outstanding Jonathan Edwards Sports Centre.
Our other sports facilities include numerous sports pitches, a 25-metre indoor pool, floodlit AstroTurf pitch and squash, netball and tennis courts.
The outstanding Michael Morpurgo Library, built in 2015, provides an area for Prep pupils to expand their joy of reading and explore different authors and genres. Library sessions are timetabled from Nursery upwards and include quiet reading periods, giving children quality time to enjoy their favourite books.
The Jonathan Edwards Sports Centre, named after the former West Buckland student and current triple jump World Record Holder, includes a multi-sport hall, used by the Prep pupils for PE and games sessions, or for indoor cricket nets. The children also have access to our 25m indoor swimming pool.
The Prep Art Studio is housed in the superb 150 Building, a state-of-the-art facility for Art and Design Technology. The Prep studio allows the pupils to explore a number of art and craft projects but, in addition, the older pupils have access to the Design studios to work on more advanced techniques and machinery, including 3-D printing.
A 100-seater theatre is situated within the stunning 150 building, providing a perfect auditorium for concerts, plays and dance productions. With its well-equipped AV and lighting equipment, productions and concerts come alive, showcasing the best of our pupil’s abilities.
The retractable seating allows the space to be used for our schedule of extra-curricular dance lessons, which are always popular with members of the Prep school.
