Sports round-up

In recent weeks we’ve had a wealth of sporting successes and victories. Read on for a summary of what we’ve been up to on the pitch and the court.

Tennis highlights

Didn’t they do well? Our U15 girls tennis squad has reached the last 16 in the National Aegon Competition, for the first time ever! The semi final against Prior Park in Bath presented a significant challenge, but the girls never gave up and took valuable points from their opposition.
In the 3rd / 4th play off against South Wiltshire Grammar, matches were even and our teams showed that they were not in any way outclassed at this level.
Evie Bishop lost narrowly in a tie break, while Chloe Parry, who was riding high on her birthday, made an amazing comeback from 1-4 down to win her singles game 6-4.
Mia Morris won her singles match 6-4, while Millie McLintock and Martha Macdonald narrowly lost their tie break, giving Wiltshire the victory 4-2.
Congratulations to the overall winners Prior Park, and a huge well done to our team for their confidence, determination and commitment.

Our senior boys have entered the National Schools’ Tennis Competition for Years 11 to 13 for the first time. This week saw them taking to the courts beneath our floodlights (and wrapped up warmly!) at home against Mount Kelly.
The first round saw wins from Jack P and Sacha C-M in the doubles, while Louie V-R and Mason G looked comfortable in the singles matches alongside. Round 2 had similar wins, with an overall tally of 6 matches to 0. Well done boys!

Rugby highlights

Congratulations to the U14 rugby squad on winning the North Devon rugby tournament, after a 33-10 win against Bideford College in the final.

We had further rugby success with our U15s reaching the fourth round of the National Cup, after an excellent 17-7 victory over Woodroffe School. They meet Park School in the semi-final of the North Devon tournament.

Our U12 rugby squad attended a rugby development day at WBS last week, attended by seven local schools, with almost 100 boys taking part in training and workshops.

Hockey highlights

Our U14 girls hockey team qualified for the regional finals today, which they will play at Millfield on Tuesday 26th November.
