We are absolutely over the moon to share that River P has been offered a prestigious place at the Royal College of Music Junior Department to study piano from September. Ranked as the number one music institution in the world, the RCM is renowned for its exceptional standards, and piano is one of the most competitive disciplines to gain entry to. This is an extraordinary achievement, and one that is richly deserved.
River’s success is the result of immense talent, dedication and hard work. He has shown remarkable commitment to his craft, practising with focus and determination over many years. We couldn’t be prouder of what he has achieved and are thrilled to see his musical journey continue at such an elite level.
What makes River’s success even more special is his desire to give back. He is keen to bring what he learns at the Royal College of Music back to the West Buckland community, inspiring younger musicians and showing them what is possible with passion, perseverance and the right support.
Music at West Buckland School
River’s journey is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through the outstanding musical opportunities available at West Buckland School. Music is central to school life here, and pupils benefit from a rich, inclusive and aspirational programme designed to nurture talent at every stage.
We offer:
From first experiences in the Prep School through to advanced performance in the Senior School and Sixth Form, students are encouraged to explore, develop and excel. Quite simply, West Buckland offers everything a budding musical maestro could wish for.
The Power of Expert Support
River’s family have been keen to recognise the incredible support provided by the West Buckland music department, as well as the dedication of our peripatetic teachers. In particular, they wish to thank Caroline Clipsham, whose exceptional teaching, encouragement and belief in River played a vital role in his development.
We are extremely proud to be able to offer pupils access to teachers of such calibre, whose expertise and commitment make a profound difference to young musicians’ confidence and progress.
Looking Ahead
River’s achievement is a moment of great pride for the entire school community and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when talent is nurtured in the right environment. We look forward to following his continued success and watching him inspire others at West Buckland to pursue their own musical ambitions.
Congratulations, River – the future is bright, and we cannot wait to see where your music takes you next.
