Sun shines for West Buckland's day of sports, ecology and the fete on Saturday 7th September.

The sun came out for West Buckland’s festival of activites on Saturday, when we hosted the PA Fete, the Bioblitz and OWBA Sports Day, followed by the OWBA Rugby Dinner and Auction.

The Fete

The Fete attracted plenty of families with stalls offering food and drink, face painting, gifts and a tombola, with a constant queue for zorbing!

Over 150 different species found at West Buckland

All the hard work by WEBS (West Buckland Ecology and Biodiversity Society) in growing and planting wildflower meadows at school, with the help of all age groups of pupils, has paid off, as we found more than 150 species in the school grounds.

Thank you to John and Mary Breeds for their help in identifying species.

Sun shines for Saturday's festival of OWBA sports

OWBA Sports Day was a roaring success, with netball, archery, hockey, shooting, rugby and, for the first time, football, on the timetable. It was a memorable day for all so here’s a snapshot of our photo gallery of the day.

The OWBA took on the mighty Welsh Charitables RFC (a team comprising of ex-welsh internationals) playing a three-way game with the North Devon Barbarians (a vets team of local legends).

OWBA rugby dinner and auction

During the OWBA rugby dinner and auction, we sat down to a delicious piece of beef followed by a cheeseboard, while we were entertained with some great stories from the panel of Welsh rugby players. The list of auction lots and raffle prizes kept everyone focused during the bidding and we were pleased to raise enough money to support our Fijian rugby players. Here are some photos of the night.
