WBS produces best results ever in Devon Athletics Championships

WBS nails it at Devon Athletics Championships

County Champions were crowned both on the track and in the field. Bella Lawson came 1st in 100m; Eden Robinson was placed 1st in the 200m and Long Jump; Linus Emuna came 1st in the Long Jump and High Jump; Ed Broggio took 1st place in the Javelin; Martha MacDonald took 1st in the Shot and Ella Clifton 1st in the Triple Jump.

Everyone mentioned above automatically qualifies to represent Devon at the South West Championships, along with Reese Robinson and Sion Grand who have performed very well in the Triple Jump and Shot respectively, and also have qualified to represent Devon at the South West Championships. The next stage of the championships will take place on Saturday 15th June 2019 at Exeter.

West Buckland’s athletics squad of 19 athletes had their best ever performance, and qualified in 34 events across all age groups. There were other notable performances throughout the day, including Bella Lawson who took 2nd in the 200m; Anna Wilson came 3rd in the Javelin; Jono Williams took 3rd in the 800m; George Thomas came 3rd in the 1500m; Sion Grand came 2nd in the Discus; Martha MacDonald took 2nd in Javelin; Sam Wong came 2nd in both the 100m and Long Jump and Tom Dewhurst came 2nd in the Javelin.

The other athletes who competed at Exeter were Sandy Carrick and Codie Clark in the Long Jump; Charlie McClure in the 100m, 200m and Relay; Luke Flynn in the 100m, High Jump and Relay; Ted Brewer in the 300m and Fearne Harris in the High Jump.
