Prep 5 and 6 Tennis Squad Dominate in North Devon Schools Tournament

There was more sporting success for the Prep school at the Year 5 & 6 North Devon Schools Tennis Tournament, held this week at the Tarka Tennis Centre.

Freddie and Brad Win Their Competition

The Year 5 and 6 North Devon Tennis Tournament was extremely busy with the three different competitions featuring a good number of primary schools in the region.

Our pairing of Brad Lock and Freddie Tucker proved a force with which to be reckoned and they strode to victory winning their pool comfortably. In the semi-final they played Ilfracombe Junior school and then faced Southmead School in the final.

More Success in a Tight Competition

In the other competitions, in A pool, there were two West Buckland pairs. Amelie Pye and Lincoln Boden finished in fourth place, while Freddie Lloyd and Eric Lorimer climbed to the top, having come from behind!

They finished as runners up in the pool round following a narrow tie break loss but went on to beat the winners of the other pool with ease in the semi-final. This meant that they were to face the same boys from Sticklepath in the final! In a similar position, the match was all square and needed another tie break to settle the competition. Freddie Lloyd ran every ball down and Eric Lorimer made a nuisance of himself at the net – a tantalising match to watch – and a well-earned victory to become North Devon Champions! A great day of tennis of which to be proud!
