As we conclude another fantastic year, it’s gratifying to reflect on our achievements. The balance of exhaustion and reward signals that we’ve struck the right chord in our efforts. Our commitment to providing a personalised learning experience remains at the core of our busy school, and I am immensely grateful to our dedicated staff and hardworking pupils.
Character Development
This year, we have delved into character education, focusing on embedding eudaimonia (human flourishing) in our school’s ethos. Our goal is to equip students with the values needed to make the right decisions at the right moments. These values are taught, caught, and sought through various enriching activities, and you will hear much more about this in the coming terms.

Boarding
We are thrilled about the future of boarding at West Buckland with the opening of our new Junior Boarding House, Gables and the growing interest in flexi-boarding options. Boarding not only fosters self-discovery but also promotes international awareness, honesty, and respect.
New Programmes
Next year, we will introduce new academic programmes in Environmental Systems and Societies, Global Perspectives, Computer Science, Music Technology and the National Outdoor Learning Award. Our staff and pupils’ dedication to sustainability has earned national recognition, and we are proud to host a sustainability summit next year.
