During the recent Easter holidays, West Buckland held the first Revision Camp for Year 11 students. The aim of the three day camp was to help prepare students for their forthcoming GCSEs.
Academic work
The camp attracted 24 students from Year 11, including 9 as day students and 15 who took the residential option. Each of the three days had four to five teachers covering maths, English language, English literature, Chemistry and Biology. There were also two boarding supervisors so the students were well provided for during study and free time.
As well as subject matter revision, students took part in study skills sessions and both independent and group revision sessions.
Not all about the work
To provide both balance and fun, the students enjoyed a line-up of activities, including a netball tournament, gym sessions, a games night, karaoke, team building and quizzes. The feedback on the camp has been very favourable, with the survey results giving a rating of 8.19 out of 10 for the camp overall, and 100% of participants saying that they felt better prepared for GCSE after the three days. Many students felt that they would select the residential option next time, so we look forward to offering another revision camp next Easter.
