Despite the national lockdown, the school remains OPEN for full boarders and key worker children, with other students following our successful online learning programme from home. We are still welcoming applications from students of all ages. Click here for scholarship information.
Because, year on year, we are the highest performing co-ed day and boarding school in the South West
With 78.9% of A-levels passed at Grade A*-B in 2018, West Buckland is ranked in the Top 40 (actually, No.35) independent co-ed boarding schools in the UK. Whilst this makes us extremely proud, it shouldn’t come as a surprise as we believe our Sixth Form is top of the tree.
PARKER’S : With the opening of Parker’s Sixth Form boarding house and Michael Morpurgo Library in 2015, both our day and boarding students can enjoy some of the finest facilities for A-level study, in the region. It’s not surprising that our A-level results are so impressive, year on year.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE : As a West Buckland Sixth Former you will benefit from first class teaching, outstanding facilities, a superb range of extra-curricular activities and will be encouraged to express your own views, think independently, develop your own ideas and gain the confidence to succeed in your life beyond school.
WELLBEING: We believe in the importance of mental and physical wellbeing and so we encourage our Sixth Formers to balance their studies with periods of relaxation. Whether you’re into your sport, art, music or drama, or you like to debate, to sing, to join the STEM club, to trek across Exmoor or spend the evening doing yoga or playing squash, we have something for everyone.
BOARDING : Boarding in the Sixth Form has become increasingly popular, with the students enjoying the outstanding boarding facilities in Parker’s, with its 70 en-suite bedrooms and modern social areas, offering superb preparation for independent living.
CAREERS ADVICE : We offer extensive HE and Careers advice, along with a varied and exciting enrichment programme. As a result, most of our students will go on to study at their first-choice university, whilst others will choose vocational training through a different route. All will have received expert advice and guidance.
COMMUNITY : Whilst many students have been at West Buckland throughout their education, increasing numbers are joining us for Sixth Form. We also welcome international students who wish to enjoy the unique ethos and vibrant community in our Sixth Form.
