Despite the national lockdown, the school remains OPEN for full boarders and key worker children, with other students following our successful online learning programme from home. We are still welcoming applications from students of all ages. Click here for scholarship information.
West Buckland School has been shortlisted for Boarding School of the Year in the TES Independent School Awards 2019, for our provision of outstanding boarding, especially in the Sixth Form.
Beds in Parker’s, our Sixth Form boarding house, fill up fast and, as well as new students starting in the Sixth Form, many of our current students convert to boarding after GCSEs. And why wouldn’t they, when our boarders enjoy all the benefits of a modern and spacious house with 70 single en suite bedrooms?
Sixth Form boarding is the ideal preparation for independent living at university, whilst encouraging a good work ethic and developing vital time management skills.
Parker's Virtual TourThe open-plan social areas, which are used by both day and boarders during the day, ensure that all students can mix and socialise in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
Kitchen areas, break out rooms and IT pods mean that the students can work around their own timetable, balance their commitments and still have time to unwind.
Boarders in the Sixth Form benefit from being able to use many of the fabulous sports and recreational facilities in the evenings and weekends, including the pool, sports hall, fitness suite, music rooms and art studios, as well as our Sixth Form study area in the Michael Morpurgo Library.
Weekends are always busy for our boarders, with shopping expeditions, cultural visits to nearby cities, and activities including surfing, paintballing, sports activities, cinema trips and cookery afternoons ensure that there is something for everyone.
