Boarding in Sixth Form is extremely competitive as students recognise the huge benefits that boarding brings.
Boarding in the Sixth Form is very popular and spaces fill up fast. Year 12 students will board partly in Boyer and Bamfylde, our Year 7 – 12 boarding houses, in a modern, double room and partly in Parker’s, our Sixth Form boarding house, with 70 single, en suite rooms. Year 13s will spend the whole year boarding in Parker’s.
Why is it popular? Boarding is perfect for providing the perfect learning environment, creating more time in the day for both work and relaxation, and the pastoral care that will help you to navigate through the Sixth Form and beyond?
Sixth Form boarding is the ideal preparation for independent living at university, whilst encouraging a good work ethic and developing vital time management skills.Parker's Virtual Tour
Within Parker’s, where Sixth Form boarders will spend the majority of their time, the open-plan social areas, which are used by both day and boarders during the day, ensure that all students can mix and socialise in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
Kitchen areas, break out rooms and IT pods mean that the students can work around their own timetable, balance their commitments and still have time to unwind.
Boarders in the Sixth Form benefit from being able to use many of the fabulous sports and recreational facilities in the evenings and weekends, including the pool, sports hall, fitness suite, music rooms and art studios, as well as our Sixth Form study area in the Michael Morpurgo Library.
Weekends are always busy for our boarders, with shopping expeditions, cultural visits to nearby cities, and activities including surfing, paintballing, sports activities, cinema trips and cookery afternoons ensure that there is something for everyone.
