The Exmoor with a twist
The Exmoor Cross Country Run has a longstanding tradition with the school; this year will be race number 161!
For 2024, we are introducing a twist to our annual Exmoor – Run. The event will also include a Tiny Exmoor Run for the Pre Prep pupils and a Mini Exmoor Run for Prep pupils – both on Wednesday 20th March. Moreover, we’re proud to announce the introduction of our first ever Giving Day. This initiative aims to enrich the lives of our students by offering transformational bursaries and enhancing our outdoor education opportunities across the whole school, making every donation count. A Giving Day is a 36-hour online fundraising event and former pupils, alumni and staff from around the globe will be involved via email and social media.
Leading the charge for our Giving Day is Ms Amanda Reynolds, Foundation and Alumni Director, backed by almost 7 years of experience at West Buckland School. Joining her are Mrs Cassie Jones, Foundation and Alumni Officer, and Mrs Kate Fenton, Foundation and Alumni Assistant. Together, they bring a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to this important initiative.
The Foundation and OWBA
West Buckland School Foundation was founded in 2003 and has supported numerous students with bursary funding as well as having fundraised money for capital projects such as the 150 building, Parker’s and The Michael Morpurgo Library. Our Foundation ensures that every student has the opportunity to thrive. The team also manage the OWBA (Old West Buckland Association) organising social and sporting reunions for former West Buckland students and hosting career and networking events for current and past students.
Giving Day
Now, onto the main event – Giving Day. As we lace up our running shoes for the Exmoor Cross Country Run Thursday 21st March, let’s also come together in the spirit of generosity. Whether you’re a student, alumni, parent, member of staff or a friend of the school, your contributions make a tangible difference. By donating, you’ll directly impact the lives of students by helping to fund transformational bursaries and supporting our outdoor education provisions. Remember, every contribution, no matter how small, counts. The first £40,000 will be match funded, doubling your donation!
