Despite the national lockdown, the school remains OPEN for full boarders and key worker children, with other students following our successful online learning programme from home. We are still welcoming applications from students of all ages. Click here for scholarship information.
We'd love your child to benefit from thriving and developing under the nurturing care of our dedicated staff. Come and see us.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to join and recommend that you take the following steps to help you decide whether West Buckland is the place for you.
If you would like to view or order a copy of our Senior School prospectus follow the link below.
Take Me ThereWe hold two Open Days during the year, in October and May.
However, every day is an Open Day at West Buckland and our Sixth Formers will be delighted to take you on a tour of the school on any agreed day. Currently, we can offer a ‘virtual’ tour followed by a one-to-one online meeting with the Headmaster and other senior staff members.
If you’re still not sure, we can arrange a ‘taster day’ for your child, when they can spend the day at school with their own peer group.
Registering with us signals that you wish to proceed with arrangements for entry. We will then contact you to schedule the Entrance Assessment.
See the Additional Information section below for the Registration Form.
Children joining us from the Prep school do not have to sit an entrance assessment to gain entry to the Senior school.
Year 7: Children looking to join West Buckland School in Year 7 will need to undertake an informal Entrance Assessment, which covers Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning. This is largely just for setting purposes and children should not feel anxious about it.
For entry in September 2021, we invite families to book in an appointment to come and sit the assessment in school, at their convenience. Children of families who live far away or overseas can do the assessment in their current school under supervision from a member of staff.

Years 8 to 10: we welcome applications from pupils in Years 8 to 10. Pupils will be asked to complete assessments in Maths and English and this can be arranged at a convenient time.
Hopefully, we will then be in a position to offer your child a place and will then guide you through the process leading up to their joining us.
If you’re already enrolled and have completed the admissions process then head over the Senior New Starter page for information packs.
