West Buckland Announce New Prep Head from April 2023
Headmaster, Phillip Stapleton is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Sarah Atkinson as the next Head of West
Buckland Prep School.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Sarah Atkinson as the next Head of West
Buckland Prep School. Sarah is currently the Head of RGS Dodderhill, part of the RGS Worcester
family of schools, and emerged as the successor to Nick Robinson from an extremely strong field of
candidates.
Since 2019 Sarah has been Head of RGS Dodderhill, a small school that educates pupils from 2 – 16
years. Prior to this appointment she was Deputy Head Academic at RGS The Grange, a large Prep
School with nearly 400 pupils
New Head to Join in Spring 2023
Sarah is committed to her current school until April 2023 and will therefore join us in the Summer
term next year. Until then Miss Phillips (currently Deputy Head) will become the acting Head of
West Buckland Prep School and will work closely with Senior Head, Mr Stapleton, as well as remotely with Sarah.
'Delighted' to be relocating to Devon
Sarah said she is delighted to be relocating to Devon, having worked at Trinity School in Teignmouth:
‘I always refer to Devon as my happy place and I am so excited to be returning to take up the Prep
Headship at West Buckland. The wonderful location, warmth and friendliness of the staff and pupils
I met at interview means that I cannot wait to join the community.’
