Head: Mr Phillip Stapleton
I am the Head of Mathematics and a tutor for Year 11 Grenville. Although I was born in the UK, I have lived most of my life in South Africa but returned to the UK in August this year. After completing my master’s degree in applied mathematics, I worked as a computer manager before realising that my true passion was in the classroom. Apart from taking off a few years to do mathematical consulting work while my son and daughter were small, I have predominantly worked in education. My children are both young adults now with my son working in South Africa and my daughter studying in Boston, USA.
When I am not teaching or reading you can find me out exploring on my mountain bike. Having taken up cycling quite late in life, my greatest achievement was doing the Joberg2C race, which is a 9 day, 900 km mountain bike race through South Africa, which went across mountain ranges, through game reserves and eventually ended up at the sea.
